Indian dances every night in Cortez

We went and checked out the Indian dancers at the Cortez Cultural center. Alliya liked their costumes and asked them about them after the dances were finished.

Rolling down the river

Some lady in Dolores let us borrow some tubes and life jackets to go tubing down the river. We didn't get very far because the tubes had holes. It was still fun for Payton. Alliya was a little worried there would be a waterfall and sharks, she said.

Alliya goes pooof

Kaylee thought it would be great to put Alliya's hair in curlers for church. Kaylee bought some small curlers Saturday night and Alliya slept in them overnight. Kaylee had some suspicion of what might happen.

It's as if Kaylee didn't do enough to make Alliya just like her, she had to make her hair the same way hers was when she was little.

Kaylee put it up for church and after it looked pretty good. It's like we have two curly haired kids now.

Our little guy

Payton is starting to eat more and more on his own — that's not to say it doesn't get absolutely everywhere when he does.
We also thought since we live in Cortez cowboy country, we would let hom take a try at riding a horse. He fell off a few times but he may in a rodeo one day if stay here too long.
After a few tries at getting on the horse couldn't take it and Payton sat down and the horse broke a leg — guess we'll have to put it down.

Our 5th anny

We had fun checking out some nice cars in one of the parks here. There were some really sweet rides. Then we went to Farmington for dinner. We can't believe how fast time flies. Five years of marriage has gone so fast and for the most part been fun. Who knows what the next five years will bring? It should be interesting to see what happens.

More cars from the show

WE love the Bears!

Kaylee bought Payton a little Devin Hester jersey and Alliya was so excited to watch the Bears' first preseason game late last night. It was fun to watch with here. We can't wait for the opener against Indianapolis Sunday night, Sept. 7. We'll be watching and who knows maybe even Kaylee will turn into a Bears fan — I still doubt it.

Kaylee's birthday

Kaylee's mom and dad surprised her the night before and we went to Farmington, New Mexico for the day. We went to the mall and Kaylee was able to do what she loves best. After we spent the day at the mall, we went to Dolores for dinner at the German restaurant. It was pretty fun and the food wasn't too bad. Kaylee had fun and then we sang happy birthday to her and her parents were off back to Utah. Here's some pictures.

In the sprinklers having fun

It was a hot day in Cortez Saturday so Alliya and Payton had fun playing in the sprinklers. Alliya soaked Payton and they both had fun. When it was over they cuddled in Alliya's bed to get warm.

My job as a sports writer

Saturday I was out covering rock races. It's pretty cool to see what those vehicles can do. It's cool to see them flip and crash too. Here's some photos from the day. It's better to be driving them than to be watching.

The Montezuma County Fair

Not much at the fair here but a whole lot animals waiting to be dinner someday soon. The fair was small but the kids loved checking out all the animals. We saw pigs, goats, sheep, chicken, rabbits, cows and more. The things there are to enjoy around this place. It's not much but at least there's something right? Anyway the kids loved it.

Our new favorite park

We found this sweet park in nearby Dolores. It was like a castle playground, including the dragon. The kids loved it and Alliya met a new little friend to run around with there. It was fun. We had a picnic and played around. Payton even slayed the dragon.

The greatest

Can't wait for football season
